Why silk makes the difference
Silk is naturally smooth, breathable, and especially gentle on the skin. Compared to cotton, it reduces friction and helps minimize hair breakage and frizz. At the same time, it absorbs less moisture, and your skin stays more hydrated. A small difference in material – a big difference in the morning.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Which silk pillowcase is the best?
When a material has several hours of direct contact with skin and hair every night, the quality should be right.
What really matters when it comes to silk:
- 100% Mulberry Silk
- 6A quality (highest silk grade)
- approx. 19–22 momme for a good balance of softness and durability.
The momme value describes the density of the silk: The higher the value, the denser and more robust the fabric.
A high-quality silk pillowcase feels smooth, retains its shape, and lies still on the pillow without slipping
Is it good to sleep on a silk pillow?
Yes – many people notice the difference after just a few nights.
Silk is especially smooth, which means skin and hair experience less friction while sleeping.
This can help hair feel smoother in the morning and reduce stress on the skin.
At the same time, silk is breathable and temperature-regulating, contributing to a more comfortable sleep overall.
What's the healthiest for your hair while sleeping?
The most important thing is to reduce friction and mechanical stress.
You can achieve this by:
- smooth materials such as silk
- loose hairstyles (e.g., braids or plaits)
- as little pulling and pressure on the hair as possible
The goal is to put as little strain on the hair as possible overnight.
What's better for your hair, silk or satin?
Both materials are smoother than cotton, but they differ significantly:
- Silk is a natural fiber, breathable and particularly soft
- Satin only describes the weave and is often made of synthetic materials such as polyester
Silk reduces friction, which puts less stress on hair. It also doesn't static charge and feels generally more pleasant on skin and hair.
How often should you wash silk pillowcases?
For hygienic reasons, we recommend approximately once a week.
For sensitive skin or impurities, more frequently, e.g., every 2–3 days.
Important for care:
- Delicate cycle at approx. 30 °C
- Mild detergent without aggressive additives
- Ideally, wash in a laundry net
- Air dry, do not tumble dry
Tip: Multiple covers make regular changes easier in everyday life.
